The sermon titled Supernaturally Natural – Discovering Your God-Given Talent takes a deep dive into understanding the spiritual gifts God has entrusted to His people and how they can be utilized to glorify Him. Pastor Allen Victor of Calvary Chapel West Jacksonville led the congregation through a biblical exploration of both supernatural and naturally gifted talents, emphasizing their divine purpose.

The journey began by distinguishing between Supernatural Gifts and Supernaturally Natural Gifts. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 12:8-11, the supernatural gifts were categorized into three types: power gifts, spoken gifts, and revelatory gifts. Power gifts include the gift of faith, gifts of healings, and the working of miracles, while spoken gifts are prophecy, tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Revelatory gifts encompass the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits. These gifts, bestowed by the Holy Spirit, reflect the divine power and work of God in extraordinary ways.

Romans 12:3-8 introduced the concept of Supernaturally Natural Gifts, highlighting the grace given to believers and the unique talents they possess. Pastor Victor unpacked these gifts, including prophecy (seen in ministries like preaching, prayer, evangelism, and missions), serving (such as hospitality, volunteer coordination, or maintenance), teaching (including Sunday school and Bible study leadership), encouragement (like counseling and discipleship), giving (through stewardship and fundraising), leadership (in administration and ministry team management), and mercy (manifested in outreach and visitation ministries). These gifts, though seemingly ordinary, take on a supernatural purpose when dedicated to God’s kingdom and combined with Faith.

Pastor Victor then guided the congregation in discovering their own gifts. He encouraged believers to examine what comes naturally to them, what they enjoy, what burdens their hearts, and what they feel called to do. Practical examples were shared: someone with the gift of encouragement might excel in counseling or discipleship programs, while someone with mercy might be drawn to healthcare or prison ministry. He reminded everyone that these inclinations and abilities are signs of God’s handiwork and calling.

The sermon transitioned to activating these gifts by giving them to God. Hebrews 4:2 underscored the importance of mixing faith with action. Pastor Victor illustrated how God uses what is already in our hands, just as He did with Moses and his staff (Exodus 4:1-11), David and his sling (1 Samuel 17:40-50), and Peter and his fishing boat (Luke 5:1-11). Believers were encouraged to serve God where they are, leveraging their current roles and passions to honor Him.

Next, believers were challenged to stir up their gifts, based on 2 Timothy 1:6. Pastor Victor exhorted the congregation to exercise their gifts regularly, make a commitment to serve, and remain faithful, citing Matthew 25:21 as a reminder of God’s reward for faithful service. He also gave warnings: don’t bury, abuse, neglect, or take gifts for granted. The example of Jonah fleeing his calling (Jonah 1:1-3) served as a cautionary tale of disobedience, while the story of Saul and David reminded listeners that God can raise others to fulfill His purposes if we fail to answer His call.

Finally, the message emphasized the importance of sharing your gifts. Romans 12:6 encouraged believers to prophesy and minister in proportion to their faith. Pastor Victor reminded the church that growth happens outside the comfort zone and that stepping out in faith leads to spiritual maturity.

This inspiring message reminds believers that their talents are not random but divinely orchestrated for the glory of God. Each gift, whether miraculous or seemingly mundane, carries the potential to make a lasting impact when offered to the Creator.
