The Unveiling of Jesus (Revelation 1)

Preacher:
Passage: Revelation 1
Service Type:

Pastor Allen opened the sermon with prayer and reflection on the name of Jesus, emphasizing that the service’s purpose was to learn about Jesus through the book of Revelation. He reassured the congregation of their purpose in Christ and prayed for understanding of the message.

In discussing Revelation 1:1-3, Pastor Allen defined the term ‘revelation,’ meaning unveiling, and likened it to a bride being unveiled at her wedding. He conveyed that this revelation shows the true nature of Jesus and that reading, hearing, and keeping the words from this prophecy brings blessings. He reminded the congregation that the time is near for Jesus’s return, encouraging them to remain vigilant and ready, as it will come unexpectedly.

Pastor Allen described Jesus as the faithful witness and the firstborn from the dead, explaining that this title portrays His preeminence, not His chronological position. He reassured the congregation that Jesus holds the keys of Death and Hades, signifying His authority over all. He transitioned into discussing how Jesus loves and has washed everyone from their sins with His own blood, making them kings and priests to serve God, which is a high calling for every believer.

The pastor noted that Revelation 1:7 foretells Jesus’s glorious return on the clouds, where every eye would see Him, establishing that His coming would not be missed or misunderstood. He also stated that the world would be held accountable for their actions and emphasized the necessity for readiness in the face of such a profound return. He urged believers to not only be witnesses of Christ’s love but to share it with others, playing an active role in bringing others to Him.

As he concluded with Revelation 1:19-20, Pastor Allen reminded the church that the revelation of Jesus is not just for their benefit but also to unveil Him to the world. He reminded everyone to be proud of their faith and not to hide away, as Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He ended the sermon with a hopeful prayer that everyone might grow in their knowledge of Christ and look forward to the day they would see Him face to face.
