The Final Prophetic Warning (Revelation 10)

Preacher:
Passage: Revelation 10
Service Type:

Pastor Allen began by highlighting the call of 1 Corinthians 14:1, urging the church to pursue love and to desire spiritual gifts, particularly the gift of prophecy. He emphasized the significance of love as the greatest gift, reflecting how Jesus laid down His life for us. Alongside love, he pointed out that prophecy, which includes both foretelling and forthtelling, serves an essential role in edifying and comforting the body of Christ.

The sermon shifted to Revelation 10, describing a mighty angel that appeared with a cloud and a rainbow, resembling Jesus but being distinct from Him. Pastor Allen explained that the angel came from God’s throne, showcasing the splendor of God. He drew parallels with individuals who reflect the character of those they spend time with, stating, ‘You become who you hang out with.’ He illustrated this with the example of Moses, whose face shone after spending time with God.

Pastor Allen continued by discussing the symbolism of eating the little book given to John. He described how God’s word can be both sweet and bitter; sweet in its comfort and promises, yet bitter in the reality of judgment it brings. He encouraged the congregation to understand that sharing God’s word can lead to discomfort and rejection, reflecting on how true prophecy involves both affirming life and calling to repentance.

He reminded the church that they, too, are called to prophesy and declare God’s truth. Drawing from Romans 8:29 and 1 Corinthians 14:1 again, he insisted that with the Holy Spirit’s empowerment, believers could boldly share God’s message. Pastor Allen urged the importance of maintaining a relationship with Jesus to build the boldness needed to speak truthfully into the lives of others, equipping them against the dangers of sin.

Towards the conclusion, Pastor Allen warned that the days are urgent, especially concerning spreading God’s word. He emphasized God’s longing for none to perish and the responsibility that rests on the church to reach out to the lost with love, correction, and hope. He closed by encouraging everyone to deepen their study of God’s word, making it part of their daily lives so that they may share it effectively with others.
