The Seven Trumpet Judgements (Revelation 8-9)

Preacher:
Passage: Revelation 8-9
Service Type:

Pastor Allen began the sermon by discussing the unfolding events in the book of Revelation. He highlighted how Jesus broke the seals, bringing forth various judgments including the four horsemen and the cries of souls under the altar. Emphasis was placed on the significance of the seventh seal, which led to the subsequent trumpet judgments and ultimately the bowl judgments that would follow.

When the seventh seal was opened, silence fell in Heaven for about half an hour as a sign of reverence for what was about to come. This stillness contrasted sharply with the usual heavenly noise of worship and praise, indicating the seriousness and gravity of the forthcoming judgments. Seven angels were soon introduced, each given a trumpet, signaling the start of the trumpet judgments.

Pastor Allen drew attention to the angel with a golden censer who carried the prayers of the saints before God. He explained that believers today are also seen as saints due to the redemptive work of Christ. He encouraged everyone to understand the transformative process of being justified, sanctified, and ultimately glorified in Christ. The pastor emphasized that prayer itself is not powerful; rather, it is God who empowers those prayers when they are offered in accordance with His will.

As each trumpet sounded, significant and terrifying judgments were unleashed upon the earth, affecting nature and mankind. Pastor Allen noted that these judgments served as warnings meant to draw people back to God. Despite the calamities, many refused to repent and instead clung to their idols and sinful ways. The message underscored the importance of heeding God’s warnings and the call for repentance, not just for oneself but for loved ones who are still lost.

Concluding the sermon, Pastor Allen expressed gratitude for God’s grace and the opportunity to share the word. He reminded the congregation that while the tribulation judgments described in Revelation were not for those in Christ, they carried urgent implications for those outside of faith. He urged the church to pray for loved ones who have yet to accept Christ and to be willing instruments for sharing the gospel.
