You are His Treasure (Matthew 13:34-58)

Preacher:
Passage: Matthew 13:34-58
Service Type:

Pastor Allen Victor presented a message titled “You Are His Treasure” from Matthew 13 that encouraged believers who struggled with discouragement, rejection, loneliness, and feelings of worthlessness. Pastor Allen explained that many people did not feel loved, valued, or accepted, but Jesus taught through the parables that every believer was deeply loved and treasured by Him. Using Matthew 13:34-35, he showed that Jesus spoke in parables to fulfill prophecy, reveal truth to those seeking God, and conceal truth from those rejecting Him.

The message focused heavily on the parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl of Great Price found in Matthew 13:44-46. Pastor Allen explained that these parables were not about people purchasing salvation, but about Jesus paying the ultimate price to redeem humanity. He taught that the field represented the world, while the hidden treasure and pearl represented people whom Christ loved and sought after. Jesus willingly gave up heaven, suffered among mankind, and shed His precious blood so that sinners could be redeemed. Through these parables, Pastor Allen reminded the church that believers were loved, valued, chosen, celebrated, and belonged to Christ.

The sermon highlighted scriptures such as John 3:16, Luke 19:10, Deuteronomy 7:6, Psalm 17:8, and Ephesians 5:25-27 to demonstrate God’s love and pursuit of His people. Pastor Allen compared earthly items that sold for enormous amounts of money to show that value is determined by what someone is willing to pay. He emphasized that Jesus proved humanity’s worth by giving His own life on the cross. He also described how pearls are formed through irritation covered layer upon layer, illustrating how God covers believers with His grace and transforms broken lives into something beautiful and precious.

Pastor Allen then taught through the Parable of the Dragnet in Matthew 13:47-50, explaining that it pointed to the coming judgment at the end of the age. He warned that all people would one day stand before God, where the righteous and wicked would be separated. He emphasized the seriousness of hell, describing it as eternal punishment prepared for the devil and his angels according to Matthew 25:41. The message stressed that the doctrine of hell created urgency, revealed the seriousness of sin, motivated holy living, and demonstrated God’s justice.

The sermon also explored the Parable of the Householder in Matthew 13:52 and the importance of understanding both the Old and New Testaments together. Pastor Allen taught that the Bible revealed one unified story of redemption and that believers should learn from both the law and grace found throughout scripture. As the chapter concluded in Matthew 13:53-58, he explained how Jesus faced rejection in His hometown because of unbelief and familiarity. Pastor Allen encouraged those who felt rejected by family or others by reminding them that Jesus never rejected His people and that true value came from belonging to Christ.

This message was shared at Calvary Chapel West Jacksonville under the leadership of Pastor Allen Victor.
